Who We Are:  Rise and Shine Youth Leadership (RISE) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization born from the challenges of the 2020 pandemic to make a meaningful impact. It was co-founded by a team of committed high and middle school students.

What We Do: RISE is dedicated to serving the community, driven entirely by a passion for giving back—not personal gain. Since its founding in October 2020, RISE has experienced tremendous growth and made a significant community impact. Our Sunshine Reading Club, spanning 7 grade levels and over 15 classes, brings together students from across the U.S. and other developing countries to build English reading skills in a supportive and enriching environment.

Our efforts extend far beyond the classroom. From assembling OCC Shoeboxes and volunteering at the Alameda County Fair, to serving at the SF Food Bank, organizing charity bottle drives, packing meals at Kids Against Hunger, and supporting our Elder Care Program, RISE members have dedicated time and energy to a wide range of causes. We also support projects like Soile, Adopt a Senior, and various coding and math classes, all aimed at promoting education, senior care, and children’s hunger relief.

Together with our charitable partners, we have raised and donated thousands of dollars and resources to organizations like Kids Against Hunger, CityTeam in San Jose, True Love in Georgia, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and other charities. As we continue to grow, we are excited to deepen our impact and create positive change for communities near and far.
