Sunshine Math Club is a project organized by Rise and Shine Youth Leadership.
Mathematics makes our life orderly and prevents chaos. Certain qualities that are nurtured by mathematics are the power of reasoning, creativity, abstract or spatial thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and even effective communication skills. Our math courses in Rise and Shine Youth Leadership is taught by junior volunteer teachers. They possess many years of coaching experience and will be dedicated to introducing motivated math students to the true complexity, depth, and beauty of math.
In the past, we have had multiple sessions, ranging from:
- AMC 8/MathCounts Competition Preparation
- SAT/PSAT Math Preparation and Training
- Course 1 Math
Update: With the start of 2024, new sessions of math classes will be taught:
- 1st Grade (taught by Raymond Yao and Daniel Yao)
- 2nd Grade (taught by Elvin Zhong and Evan Mickey)
- 3rd Grade (taught by Patrick Zhang)
How do we manage the class?
- Each math class has 2 Junior Teachers
- Classes are hosted each week on Zoom, at a time agreed upon by students and teachers
- The curriculum varies depending on current demand, but the teachers are generally unrestricted to their choice of content and methods of providing it
